Look at the 4 pictures above. Can you find the difference between Four in Hand Knot, Windsor Knot, Half Windsor Knot, and Pratt Knot ? From a distance, they all look the same. Maybe you are looking to find new ways to tie a tie. Or maybe you do not like the way your tie knot feels and you want to give a shot at some other knot. Or..you are like me…someone who does not know how to tie a tie and is still writing article after article on this topic. Just kidding….. There was a time when I used to wonder about how to tie a tie. Several times in my childhood I asked my friends to help me tie the tie. And ofcourse…most of them were just like me
I wish there was a site like this at that time….O well…those were the good days…even without internet
There are several methods to tie a tie. Some people say that there might be 15+ ways to tie a tie. I am a big fan of 80-20 rule. What it means is that 80% of people tie their ties using only 20% of the total tie-knot types. So, if we assume that there are 15-20 different types of knots, then 20% of 15-20 = 3 or 4. In this site, we will explore all types of knots, but will put special focus on the top 4 tie knots.
Here is the list of knots:
I will update this page with a list of all 15-20 tie knots.
